Roger Binkley, a long time NUNA resident and friend passed away May 3rd 2021. Roger spearheaded the successful Aldridge Place Historic District campaign. He was a champion of the historic gateway columns in Aldridge Place and helped protect our park and waterway. NUNA residents wanted memorialize Roger’s contribution to the North University neighborhood and collected donations to install a bench in his honor in Hemphill Park.
The plaque on the bench reads:
Roger Binkley (1947-2021)
“Have a seat, friend, and and tell me how you are…”
That saying is how Roger often greeted visitors and seems very appropriate for this bench.
